Story of a couple who rescued a helpless 4-day-old kitten, and now work side by side to give him the life he deserves.
At just four days old, the tiny kitten found by Nikki faced an uphill battle without a mother. Nikki shared her worries about motherless newborns with Embora Cats and immediately sprang into action, treating the kitten and providing a heated bed to regulate his body temperature.
With a belly full of kitten formula and a cozy incubator to rest in, the little one was able to sleep soundly that night.
As a team, Nikki and Foster Papi have rescued numerous cats and kittens in need. When they found Roscoe, they took turns caring for him every couple of hours, even through sleepless nights. After seeing him gain weight, Nikki felt confident that he would be okay.
Taking care of Roscoe was tiring with the feedings every two hours non-stop. Foster Papi even compared it to jet-lag despite not leaving the same time zone.
However, Roscoe’s worth made it all worthwhile, especially when he opened his eyes for the first time at 10 days old and cried for food and attention.
To ensure Roscoe was healthy and happy, Nikki and her husband maintained a demanding feeding schedule and provided constant affection.
As Roscoe gained energy, he would try to walk after feeding, but would soon return to his cozy nest for a nap.
At three weeks old, Roscoe was able to consume 20 ml per feeding, indicating that he was ready to transition from a syringe to a baby bottle for easier feeding.
After mealtime, Roscoe snuggles up to a plushy with a heartbeat and dozes off to its sound. Thanks to his devoted foster parents, he now has a chonky belly to show off.
His ears are unfolding, and he can now hear his people coming into the room and will greet them with his squeakiest meows.
Thanks to his second chance, Roscoe has blossomed into a chonky fluff-ball, and at almost four weeks old, he is now ready to conquer the world with his charm and cuteness.
