Whenever there are cat lovers, they are constantly seeking methods to help the cats in their neighborhoods, especially because adopting cats has its restrictions.
Maria Cassano saw a stray mother cat and kitten in her father’s backyard a few years ago. Maria was worried about the cat and if she would have access to enough food to provide milk for her child.
When Maria’s father learned about the cat, he expressed reluctance to provide food for the neighborhood’s stray cats. He made an exception though, and the two started taking care of the cat they called Mom.
Soon after, one of the Cassano family’s neighbors adopted Mama’s kitten, and the family continued to provide food and keep an eye out for stray cats in the neighborhood. The family was concerned about the cats’ well-being as winter drew near because of the chilly temperatures and challenging surroundings.
So, Maria’s father, Steve, had the notion to construct a heated cat housing. Even though Steve doesn’t like keeping pets in the house, he still wanted to assist the needy kitties.
He placed an order for all the required supplies and started constructing the cat home on a foundation in their backyard. To ensure the cats arrived safely each night, Steve went a step further and installed a night vision camera in the cat housing.
Another kitten had already been born to Mom the cat by this time.
Maria accompanied the mother and child to the neighborhood vet to get shots. The doctor informed Maria that although the kitten wouldn’t be old enough to withstand the cold, Mom was healthy enough to survive the winter.
The kitten was cared for by Maria, who subsequently found him a loving forever home. Now accompanied by other wild cats, Mom hung out in the cat home like before.
The stray cats are fiercely independent and won’t let the Cassano family touch them or let them into the house. They just appreciate having a warm, secure place to sleep at night.
People all over the globe are adoring the lovely photos that the Cassano family unintentionally caught of the kitties dozing off!
The Cassano family has added a “cat igloo” and other features since constructing the cat home to keep the neighborhood cats content and warm.
