A resident discovered four newly born kittens in their backyard, without their mother present. The mother never returned for them.
After being discovered as preemies without their mothers, Orphan Kitten Club rescued the kittens. The resident who found them reached out to the organization, prompting Yige, the Satellite Nursery Coordinator, to pick them up immediately.
One of the kittens in the litter stood out due to his small size and frailty. Yige acted quickly by placing him on a heating disk and using her body heat to warm him up.
Before driving home with the newborn kitten, I spent 20 minutes warming him up in the car, as keeping a newborn kitten warm is crucial for their survival.

Denim, a small feline baby, demonstrated his resilience early on. Following some self-care and food intake, Yige provided continuous support in saving his life.
Embora Cats interviewed Yige, who shared the story of a little fighter they had taken care of. Yige stayed up every night during the first week, fearing they would lose him.

Despite numerous doubts, his body miraculously persisted through challenging times.
After receiving tube-feeding and meticulous care for several days, Denim began to put on weight and exhibited a newfound energy. He surpassed the 100-gram mark within six days of being in foster care and was subsequently taken off life support.

As the kitten grew larger, its coat began to change color, taking on a distinct resemblance to that of a fever coat.
Yige clarified to Embora Cats that the kitten did not have a fever coat from birth, but instead developed it due to illness during its first week of life.

Our veterinarian has diagnosed our pet with sepsis. To provide the necessary care and treatment, our pet was tube-fed every 1-2 hours for the first week and received multiple medications and supportive care.
Throughout his recovery process, Denim remained closely bonded with one of his littermates, who served as his main source of support and encouragement.

Whenever he was in need of emotional support or a loving embrace, his brother Corduroy was always there to offer him comfort and encouragement.
“Corduroy has been Denny’s unwavering protector since day one.”

Watch Denim and his journey in this video:
Whenever Denim felt sick or his condition worsened, Corduroy would come to his aid and rescue him.
Whenever Denim’s heart rate slowed down, I prepared for the worst. However, I observed that Corduroy would come over and give Denim a little nudge, which immediately increased his heart rate.

Denim doubled his weight, thanks to the support of his foster family and unconditional love from his brother. Despite being the smallest in the clowder, he compensated with his charming personality.
Denim blossomed into a playful, rambunctious little mischief-maker.

After consistently initiating wrestling matches and developing a distinct personality, the kitten was deemed ready for adoption at nine weeks old.
As relayed by Yige to Embora Cats, the brothers derived a great deal of comfort from each other’s presence, ultimately leading to their joint adoption.

Yige expressed immense pride in the preemies’ progress since being rescued as sick preemies.
Invaluable Lessons from a Tough Journey Their challenging journey taught me invaluable lessons: to slow down, acknowledge small victories, and never lose hope.

Lestat and Laszlo, two kittens that have been renamed, are currently living a wonderful life with their loving forever family.
After a growth period of three months, Lestat’s dark fur is now fully grown and displaying its complete dark glory.
