Heartwarming story of a blind cat who finally found comfort and led her family to her adorable kittens.

Coastal Bend Cat Rescue (CBCR) in Corpus Christi, Texas was contacted last month regarding a stray cat found wandering outside an elderly couple’s residence.
Their son noticed that the cat’s eyes appeared crusted shut and followed her to her den, where he found three tiny kittens.
He contacted CBCR for help and as soon as they had an available foster home, they welcomed the feline family in with open arms.

Two of the kittens exhibited malnourishment and upper respiratory infection. The mother cat, Clue, consumed her food before settling in her warm and comfortable nest with her offspring, Candyland, Monopoly, and Chutes and Ladders, nursing on her belly.
During her recovery, it was noted that Clue’s eye drainage improved but her eyes were found to have abnormal tissue and she was completely blind.

Mary shared with Embora Cats that her cat has congenital microphthalmia, which means she was born with very small or absent eyes.
The condition requires enucleation to prevent recurrent infections. Despite being blind, the cat seems to be coping well and was well-protected by her mother, Mama Clue.

After receiving a safe home, warm beds, and medical care, the kittens regained their appetite and started to put on weight.
Whenever the kittens were taken out of the cube to be weighed, Mama Clue kept a close eye on them, ensuring that they were quickly returned to the nest and into her loving arms. Their eyes all cleared up after a week of tender loving care (TLC).

She would sometimes be taken aback by the sound of a meowing baby coming from an unexpected location.

As the kittens turned three weeks old, they became increasingly mobile and began exploring beyond the safe zone that had been approved by their mother, Clue. Her response to their escapades was one of concern and displeasure.

Mary, who takes care of Clue, explains that the feline enjoys being around people and seeks their affection. When Clue’s foster mom enters the enclosure, Clue immediately starts kneading her paws to show her excitement.

Despite being blind and an outdoor cat her entire life, Mama Clue quickly learned to use the litter box and is now enjoying a life of luxury in her foster home along with her kittens, who have reached several developmental milestones.

During her description of the kittens, Mary noted that Candyland is a talkative and adventurous feline, while Monopoly is a laid-back kitten who enjoys rolling around and receiving belly rubs. Mary also mentioned that Monopoly is starting to practice her pouncing skills on her sisters.
Once a shy cat, Chutes and Ladders has transformed and now eagerly crawls into her foster mom’s lap, no longer needing multiple eye drops a day.

Mama Clue is thriving as an indoor cat with a VIP lifestyle, including optimal care for her eyes, food, and shelter. She no longer has to worry about roaming the streets blindly and has found a forever home that she deserves.
