When Misty, a 3-year-old cat, was brought to the Nevada SPCA, she was heavily pregnant and had a wound on her thigh. After receiving treatment for her injury, Misty was grateful for the chance at a better life.

Kathy Stankiewicz, a devoted Nevada SPCA volunteer, provided Misty with a safe and comfortable home. Shortly after giving birth, Misty became ill due to stress and unfortunately, her kittens did not survive. Although Misty recovered physically, she was emotionally devastated by the loss of her kittens.
Kathy was contacted about a singleton puppy found without his mother. She decided to take him in, hoping Misty would be accepting of him in their home.
Misty instantly perked up, strode over to the kitten, and began grooming him as soon as she heard him cry. Kathy told Embora Cats, “She instantly adopted him as her own.”

Misty adopted the cat, who was given the name Sunny, and grew quite attached to him. The furry baby sparked her maternal instinct. The first week, Misty seldom left the kitten’s side because it took him some time to latch on.
She was constantly feeding and scrupulously cleaning the kitten. “Sunny viewed her as his real mother. As though Misty had given birth to him, it was love at first sight and acceptance. She was overjoyed to have a kitten to take care of once more.”

With Mama Misty by his side, the little tabby thrived. He ate like a champ and grew by leaps and bounds. It wasn’t long before he discovered how to purr and kept his motor running while snuggling with Mama Misty.
The kitten gained half a pound and developed a round, healthy belly two weeks later. He was a contented, contented baby, and his loud purrs were always filling the room.

Misty prepared her fur child to be an independent cat by teaching him feline skills such as proper eating habits and self-hygiene.
Sunny began self-feeding from a dish at the age of one month when his official weight was one pound.

Misty started spending more time alone to unwind and relax because she was so happy with how far he had gone.

Since the birth of her own litter, Misty had been struggling with stress-related concerns (overgrooming both herself and the kitten). Despite everything, she insisted on taking care of the abandoned cat since it gave her comfort.
Mother Misty is prepared to let Sunny fly now that he’s older and more self-sufficient since she yearns to spend more time socializing and is eager to secure her own house.

She has been spayed and taken a break from parenting to help her cope with stress. She wants to spend the rest of her life with a devoted, forever family.
“Misty is a lovely cat who was a wonderful mother figure for Sunny. It is now her turn to enjoy her life as the priceless princess she so richly deserves “stated Kathy.

The tabby guy is developing into a playful, rowdy cat after making great adjustments. He tells his foster mother all about how he learned to get out of his playpen and how well he uses the litter box.
“I’m so proud of Sunny. He is getting more playful every day.”
