A cat was found with a can stuck on her head, Behind an auto dealership in Eastern Oklahoma
Brian Sheppard, the proprietor of the dealership, became aware of the feline’s predicament through one of his salesmen and proceeded to search for her. “Despite leaving my office, I was initially unsuccessful in locating her. However, as closing time approached, I chanced upon her behind my store,” Brian recounted to Embora Cats.
Upon closer inspection, Brian noticed the emaciated condition of the feline. “Without delay, I retrieved the leftover chicken from my lunch and tore it into bite-sized pieces, which I then proceeded to hand-feed to her.”
The feline was so famished that she devoured the entire meal. Brian speculated that the cat belonged to someone in the vicinity. To his surprise, two days later, she returned to the dealership.
“I visited a nearby emporium and procured sustenance, tableware, feline litter, and a resting place. Upon my return, I was welcomed by her gracious presence at the threshold and proceeded to satiate her appetite. Whilst she partook of her meal, I discerned that she had been tending to her offspring.”
Being an avid animal enthusiast, he realized that it would be unfair to confine her within his abode while her young ones were anxiously awaiting her return elsewhere.
Hence, after she had concluded her meal, he proceeded to arrange her food and water utensils behind his store, and ingeniously crafted a cozy bed using a carton and some soft shop towels.
His heart was filled with hope and anticipation, yearning to reunite with her or catch a glimpse of her newborn kittens. It was at this point that he christened her Sophie, and from that moment onward, the furry feline couldn’t resist leaping onto his lap for a warm embrace.
A week subsequently, Brian chanced upon Sophie at a residence positioned across a gravel driveway from his store, and from there, he discovered her abode.
The feline persisted in her habitual visitations to the store, engaging in companionship with her human acquaintance. “She entered my office, promptly located her victuals and potable water, and dined leisurely. Afterward, she pinpointed the bed which I had procured for her, reclined upon it, and dozed off,” Brian expounded to Embora Cats.
“She slumbered there even when I was in attendance to other customers. I situated her bed underneath my desk, and she remained there, in close proximity to me, whilst I attended to my duties.”
In late November, Brian ventured across the dirt driveway to inquire about Sophie’s whereabouts. It was then that he laid eyes upon her two adorable kittens. Upon expressing his interest in adopting the felines, the homeowner suggested that Brian take all of them, as he had no inclination to keep or care for them.
However, the homeowner’s young daughter was not keen on the idea. In light of this, Brian made the decision to patiently await the moment when the kittens were fully prepared for adoption.
“I had not received any communication from the gentleman, and neither had I laid eyes on Sophie for approximately a week,” Brian recounted. He surmised that the family had resolved to confine the felines indoors.
One evening, as Brian was preparing to shutter his establishment, he espied a recognizable feline perched upon the welcome mat at the entrance. “As I was concluding the day’s trade and securing my store, Sophie materialized alongside my conveyance, accompanied by a pair of juvenile cats. It was evident that she had led them to her customary feeding station,” Brian recounted to Embora Cats.”
He turned the key in the lock, granting access to his establishment, and swung open the front entrance. Swiftly thereafter, Sophie came barreling through the threshold and made a beeline for his office, whereupon she began to voraciously consume sustenance.
Meanwhile, I took a seat on the steps, summoning the kittens with a gentle call. After a brief period, they cautiously approached me, though soon revealed themselves to be affable and frolicsome creatures.
It was not long before I ushered them into the interior of the edifice, finally procuring their company within its walls. Brian then proceeded to apprise the family, consisting of both Sophie and the kittens, of their newfound accommodations.
The duo of feline siblings chanced upon a cozy abode with an amiable staff member, and Brian magnanimously offered to finance their respective spay/neuter procedures and initial veterinary consultations.
The yuletide season had arrived, and it was imperative that Sophie secure a permanent dwelling.
“I conversed with my spouse, who possesses a most unfortunate susceptibility to allergens, and conveyed to her my profound fondness for Sophie. To this, my wife replied, ‘Let us endeavor to introduce her to our abode.’
Though navigating my wife’s allergies has been a trying ordeal, the situation has markedly improved. Undoubtedly, Sophie has become an integral member of our cherished family unit.”
“It has been nearly 18 months since Brian discovered Sophie. She is not only hale and hearty but also contented and cherished,” expressed Brian to Embora Cats.
Brian further added, “Sophie has impacted our lives in a profound way, more than we could ever have possibly affected hers. She accompanies me everywhere, even to the lavatory.”
