A ginger cat that was saved has become close friends with a very unique buddy, showing that friendship can overcome anything.
Say hello to Mewie, the cat, and Nandi, the rhino who lost its parents!

Mewie and Nandi reside at The Rhino Orphanage in Limpopo, South Africa.
Jamie Traynor takes care of rhinos who have lost their parents and saved a small kitten named Mewie when he was very young.
She took care of him until he got better, and now he’s a cute adult ginger cat.

When Nandi was just two months old, she came to the orphanage. Her mother was sadly killed by poachers, and Nandi had to be alone for a few days.
The young rhino, orphaned and devoid of companionship, sought solace in consuming sand, inadvertently causing harm to her digestive system. Thankfully, the Wild Heart Wildlife Foundation (WHWF) intervened, rescuing her and providing sanctuary within their dedicated orphanage.

That’s when Jamie started taking care of her full-time. As part of her daily routine, she goes for two walks every day.
Mewie loves sticking close to me at the orphanage, especially when I’m with Nandi. Their friendship started when we began sharing a room together.
Jamie attentively watched the interaction between the two, noting how Nandi’s curiosity about the new animal swiftly evolved into a strong emotional attachment.

Mewie is a very brave cat and shows no fear of Nandi, even though Nandi is at least ten times bigger.

Jamie says that both of them enjoy going for walks in the afternoon, and when one starts running, the other always follows suit.
We take really long walks so that Nandi can eat grass and get some exercise, but most of the time Mewie gets tired, and then I have to pick him up and bring him back.

The two best friends are now inseparable.

Two animals were found without their mothers, but they were given a second chance to live.
Although they are very different, they have become close.
Mewie, with its feline perception, may interpret Nandi as an unconventional cat, while Nandi, with its imaginative disposition, may envision Mewie as a pint-sized, plush rhinoceros.
