In a TNR (trap-neuter-return) project earlier this year, a small cream calico kitten was rescued. She was the only surviving member of her litter, and her feral mother was unable to provide adequate care for her.
Following her rescue, Lucy – a vocal and assertive kitten – was transported to Tiny but Mighty Kitten Rescue in Ontario, Canada for an opportunity to find a loving home.
When Baby Lucy arrived, she was around three weeks old. It took her three attempts to learn how to use a bottle, but once she mastered the technique, she ate with gusto.

The sweet calico was a cuddle bug from the start and needy of attention.
Mellissa, a founder of Tiny but Mighty Kitten Rescue, was gifted a stuffed bunny cat toy to the recipient that was the same size as her. According to Mellissa, the kitten showed a positive response toward the toy.

After each bottle, she would receive attention, cuddling, and walking practice.
Princess Lucy was a little girl with a big attitude. Whenever she was tired, she would cry until someone carried her back to her cozy incubator for a nap. But no matter what, she always got what she wanted.

After reaching four weeks of age and one pound in weight, Lucy began displaying a higher demand for her foster mom’s time and attention.
Mellissa brought home a new foster for Miss Lucy, and around that time, she started hearing squeaks from the next room.

Initially, the plan was to treat and monitor the new kitten for two weeks before introducing him to his feline sibling. However, the little calico’s eagerness prompted a change of plans.
A newly discovered kitten named Luke was found alone under a porch. Despite being the same age as Lucy, he exhibited high levels of energy and playfulness. He particularly enjoyed playing with his Snuggle Kitty toy and would purr contentedly when held.

Every day, during the scheduled bottle time, Lucy could hear Luke’s meows, and her excitement to locate him grew. A few days later, while Mellissa was cleaning her room, the astute little calico set out on an adventurous escapade.
After Mellissa stepped out of Lucy’s room to dispose of something, Lucy immediately ran towards Luke upon seeing another kitten of her size. Mellissa explained how they began to play right away.

After Mellissa moved Luke’s playpen to the kitten room, the two little singletons were thrilled to have a friend and immediately started cuddling. They were also able to enjoy supervised playtime together between bottle feedings.
Upon meeting each other, these two singleton orphaned kittens immediately became the best of friends.

Lucy, the boss kitty, decided to permanently move in with Luke, her brother from another mother. She insisted on being by his side wherever he went, and that’s why she now calls his apartment her new playpen.
Whenever they weren’t actively engaged in playful activities such as running around or wrestling with each other, the two animals would snuggle up as a duo for a nap.

Over the next few weeks in foster care, the two best friends shared every adventure together, always within eyesight of each other.
After playing to their heart’s content, they fell asleep, wrapped in each other’s arms.

After forming a strong bond, the duo was now ready to take the next step in their journey together – finding a place they could truly call home.
Luke and Lucy were adopted by a family who welcomed them into their home with a ginger cat and a sweet canine.

Luke and Lucy settled in their humans’ bed in their new home.
The best friends, along with their feline sibling Beans, found delight in their latest acquisition – the bird TV. London, the dog, was equally captivated by the two kittens and became their nap companion.

Luke and Lucy have grown by leaps and bounds, but some things never change.
After meeting in foster care, the two little singletons became family and have been inseparable ever since.
