Abandoned Kitten Refuses to Leave Side of New Mom, Who Rescued Her from Sidewalk

A stray tabby kitten, meowing for her mother on the sidewalk, was taken in by a compassionate woman who introduced her to a rescue dog. The two formed a bond immediately.

They looked worried, so Sharra stopped to investigate.

They looked around for a mother cat or other kittens but found nothing. The kitten was located in front of a walled house, so it couldn’t have come from there. With a car wash next door and a dark house on the other side, it wasn’t a safe neighborhood for door-to-door inquiries. The busy road nearby posed a lethal threat to the tiny kitten, so there was no way they could leave her behind.

Finally safe!

Initially, they intended to host the kitten overnight and then find a rescue group to assist with rehoming, but the next day brought unexpected changes.

During a supervised introduction, the family dogs demonstrated a strong desire to interact with the kitten, suggesting that they could form a positive relationship.

After receiving a clean bill of health from the vet, Crenshaw was brought home to be introduced to Sharra’s other animals. Sharra mentioned to Embora Cats that she knew the dogs would enjoy having her around.

On Sunday morning, I brought her out and placed her on the bed with the dogs. Roxy, a 5-year-old rescue Pit Bull, has been giving her a daily bath ever since that day.

The bond only grows stronger the longer they stay together.

In her role as a mother, Roxy takes care of her puppies just like any other mama dog would. She checks on them regularly, cleans them up, gives them lots of kisses, and snuggles with them to show her affection.

Crenshaw finds pleasure in Roxy’s attempts to nudge her with her nose and lick her, despite the potential for overwhelming sensations.

She just wants to curl up next to Roxy or crawl on her.

Sharra disclosed to LEmbora Cats that Crenshaw enjoys napping and playing with Roxy, who seems to be quite tolerant of Crenshaw’s playful behavior. Sharra believes that Roxy holds a special place in Crenshaw’s heart.

The small kitten has formed a strong attachment to her canine mother and refuses to leave her.

They call her Crenshaw, the Gangsta Kitty.

Crenshaw, also known as Gangsta Kitty, holds significance as my 6th rescue from a rough neighborhood street.

Now she has a mama who is very protective of her and incredibly caring to her needs.

Mama Roxy is giving her kitten a bath:

Crenshaw has also befriended their 11-year-old Pomeranian Kasey.

They give each other headbutts.

As time passes, the kitten is getting bigger, and stronger, and learns to find the litter boxes independently.

Crenshaw has an immense love and appreciation for her furry companions and could never imagine parting with them.

Snuggling with a buddy makes her a very happy kitty.

She knows she’s loved.

The family’s resident feline, Lucky, is gradually developing a positive relationship with the newest domesticated animal addition.

She spends a lot of time interacting with him by playing with his tail, and he permits it up to a certain point. He gives her a few kisses now and then.

Crenshaw’s life went from living on the streets to a forever home with a canine mother, furry siblings, and humans who cherish her.

Crenshaw is all grown up now!

This is what rescue can do!
