Malia was at her son’s baseball game at Co-Op City Field in the Bronx when she heard a commotion from a nearby crowd.
Upon investigation, she found a litter of kittens huddled together in the field. These kittens were in dire condition – they were covered in filth and appeared malnourished.
Since there was no sign of a mother cat, Malia contacted Sunny, a local animal rescuer, for help. Sunny and her husband quickly arrived at the scene and took the kittens under their care.
They provided round-the-clock care for the three-week-old kittens, bathing and bottle-feeding them until they began to perk up within just one day.

The chimera tortie showed an immediate fondness for Sunny’s younger son, and would resist any attempt to separate them with a feisty, tough demeanor.
Despite being bottle-fed by Sunny, the cat would hiss at her and her older son, indicating a clear preference for the younger child.
Sunny was impressed by the amount of personality and attitude displayed by the small feline.

Upon being placed in CJ’s arms, the kitten seemed to immediately relax and feel at ease. Although they had initially planned to foster the litter, CJ’s love for Chimera was too strong to ignore, and he pleaded with Sunny to keep her.
According to Sunny, CJ had seen Chimera and said, “I like her. She’s my kitty,” and named her himself.

As the kittens regained their footing, their unique personalities started to reveal themselves. Chimera was happy to play with her siblings, but often chose to cuddle with her favorite human instead.

The little tortoiseshell cat quickly earned the title of Chief of Mischief in the household for her playful nature and love of plotting new antics.
CJ was the only person who could “tame” her, causing her to immediately relax and seek cuddles with her best friend.

Sunny said the cat causes trouble and goes where she shouldn’t, but she’s smart and knows who to turn to for help. Chimera and her siblings grew into beautiful and playful cats who were carefree.

After reaching adulthood, Chimera’s siblings were adopted out to new homes, while Chimera remained in our care.
This playful tortoiseshell enjoys engaging in playful antics with the other resident cats and is generally tolerant of most people. However, her affectionate side is apparent when she’s around CJ.

Sunny told Embora Cats that despite her tendency to wreak havoc around the house, Chimera’s behavior becomes angelic in CJ’s presence.

Despite growing up, the tortie girl has not lost her spirited personality. Her tail, which has now fully bloomed, is something she takes pride in showing off.

Chimera’s dominant and mischievous personality takes over the household, but CJ’s arrival causes her to quickly turn into a loving and affectionate companion.

Sunny stated that CJ is the exclusive person she cuddles with. He has become her dearest friend, and it was her decision to have him as her cuddle companion.
