While exploring Greece in their motorhome, Claire and Derek of Rocking Life On The Road encountered a surprise guest. As they were admiring the sunset on a beach, a little tabby cat approached them, seeking food.
Claire shared a touching encounter with Embora Cats, ten days ago on a beach in Evia. A little kitten had approached her and her friends, who were the only tourists on the serene and quiet beach, besides an old man taking a walk.
The tabby, wandering in search of food, approached an elderly man. The man observed that the kitten likely had no owner, as the surrounding properties were mostly holiday homes and unoccupied.
After conducting thorough inquiries and speaking with multiple individuals, it was established that the kitten found on the beach was not the subject of any missing pet reports. He was in a perilous state, lacking basic necessities such as food, water, and shelter, and his chance of survival was grim without immediate intervention.
The kitten was playing with Claire, grooming her with sandpaper kisses, vying for her attention. As it was getting late, Claire picked him up and within minutes, he was asleep in her arms. The kitten took to the camper effortlessly.
The couple decided to stay one more day in hopes that the owner of the stray cat would come to claim him. Unfortunately, no one showed up, and the cat made himself comfortable in their camper. He took on the role of the van’s security kitty and became a part of their travels.
“Claire shared with Embora Cats that they couldn’t abandon the small and hungry kitten they encountered on their travels. They chose to bring him along and named him Vangelis, after the Greek word for Archangel.”
The kitten, a wonderful travel companion, is not affected by the sounds of the engine, driving, or traffic. He has won the hearts of the couple, particularly Derek, who he has completely charmed.

The charming tabby cat has captured the hearts of many locals, spreading joy and smiles wherever he goes.
A Greek woman stumbled upon a kitten on the beach and was immediately smitten with its playful energy. She approached the couple and offered them some cat food and treats for the kitten. The next day, she returned with a big bag of oranges from her own trees and eggs from her own chickens, not just for the kitten, but for the couple as well.
“Throughout our travels in Greece, we’ve been consistently touched by the small acts of kindness shown to us by strangers. These gestures have left a lasting impression and at times, have even been overwhelming.”
Vangelis, the fearless adventurer, is a pro at sleeping soundly in the car and never misses an opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal!
“After 15 minutes of admiring the view from the window, Derek wrote, the young boy dozed off on Claire’s lap.”
The rambunctious tabby is loving his new life with the family of his dreams.
Gone are the days of aimless wandering and searching for food. He now has a family who provides for his every need.
“When we return to the Isle Of Man in October, this little fella will be coming home with us and will live like royalty for the rest of his life,” Claire shared with Embora Cats.
