He was brought to the Odd Cat Sanctuary in Salem, Massachusetts, by founder Tara Kay, who was contacted by an animal rescuer who had a litter of kittens. The rescuer was impressed by Teddy’s unusual appearance, including his unusually stretchy and droopy skin, despite being just a few weeks old.
As a rescue specializing in cats and kittens with special needs, Tara agreed to take him in, and now Teddy is thriving in the sanctuary.

When the kitten arrived at the sanctuary, he immediately turned on his purr motor and greeted a volunteer with nonstop purring. He expressed his affection by giving hugs, rolling over for belly rubs, and displaying an intense love for people.
