A kitten was discovered in a precarious situation by firemen at the Torrance Fire Station in Southern California last week.
According to Fireman Cole, the feline was found tangled in wires behind a car’s headlight after being driven there by its owner.
With my partner’s help, we managed to disconnect some wires and rescue the kitten. To give him a comfortable place to stay, I repurposed my bedding box and set it up in the laundry room at the station.
The kitten, who happens to be a polydactyl with extra toes, was covered in dirt, so we gave him a quick bath before placing him in the makeshift bed made with soft towels.
After a medical call, they purchased food for the kitten and fashioned a makeshift litter box using absorbent material and a rolled-up trash bag.
Cole frequently checked on the kitten’s well-being, ensuring it was comfortable and well-hydrated.
Despite being stressed and sleeping most of the day, the kitten eventually became more comfortable with human touch and would display signs of distress when left alone.
After hearing the kitten’s loud meows, Cole affectionately gave him the nickname ‘squeaker’ and contacted Wrenn Rescues for assistance with his care.
Nicky, Cole’s wife, and her friend Kelly, then personally transported Goose to a foster volunteer named Nikki that evening.
Nikki recounted to Love Meow that when Goose first arrived, he displayed an impressive vocal range.
After settling in and being fed, he slept soundly and woke up the following day feeling more energized.
Although he still had traces of dirt and grease on his coat from his previous bath at the station, he was ready for whatever came his way.
After ridding himself of pesky fleas and taking a second bath, Goose felt like a whole new dog and was running around with newfound speed, getting zoomies like never before.

Upon his arrival at the station, it is probable that Goose was underweight and unclean. However, after receiving VIP treatment, he underwent an incredible transformation and emerged as a new man with unlimited access to food and a life free of worry.
Nikki informed Embora Cats that the foster cat under her care is an affectionate and playful feline who has quickly adapted to his surroundings despite a traumatic journey to the station.
In just six days of being in a home environment, Goose’s demeanor has completely transformed. He’s now a cheerful and carefree kitten, with a weight gain of 275 grams and healing facial scabs.
His energy level remains consistently high at 100%. Goose will soon join other foster kittens for socialization and playtime.
Nikki shared her amazement at the kitten’s transformation in just one week. The kitten was previously underweight, wormy, and dirty, but now he has become a handsome and feel-good boy.
