Adorable Kitten with Unusual Coat Rescued from Sidewalk and Adopted by Cat Family

In Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, Mellissa from Tiny but Mighty Kitten Rescue took in a pregnant stray. After a few weeks of foster care, the cat gave birth to a beautiful litter of kittens.

In the same month, Mellissa received a call regarding a tiny singleton kitten found on a sidewalk. Although weighing only 82 grams, the kitten was active and vocal, demonstrating her survival instincts.

Mellissa recognized the benefits of a mother’s love for an orphan and immediately offered to help. The plan was to introduce the kitten, Janie, to a cat mom named June after Janie was cleared medically.

Janie, a pint-sized kitten, was born with a fever coat due to her mother’s illness or stress during pregnancy. As a neonate, she needed constant care and was kept in a cozy incubator to regulate her body temperature.

After feedings, she would wave her tiny paws in pure bliss. Despite her challenging start, Janie reached the 100-gram mark in just three days.

Mama June was drawn to Mellissa’s feeding of a kitten, which she noticed due to the meowing. Mellissa described how Mama June was desperate to help, crying at the incubator.

In the following days, the kitten, named Janie, continued to thrive, growing and developing a unique coat coloration. Mellissa shared that Janie was an affectionate kitten, constantly purring and asking for belly rubs.

After two weeks, Mellissa introduced the little ball of fur to Mama June.

Upon hearing the baby’s squeaks, June ran towards her and started cleaning her from head to toe. Mellissa shared with Embora Cats that June immediately accepted the baby as her own.

June spent 10 minutes carefully grooming and cleaning herself before tenderly snuggling up with her nursing babies, creating a precious moment of motherly love.

Janie has never nursed on her new mom, but she still finds comfort in cuddling with her and other kittens.

Jasmine, the most independent of June’s litter, has developed a strong bond with her little sister Janie. While her siblings create mischief, Jasmine spends extra time with Janie, showering her with love and affection through licks and cuddles.

Mellissa informed Embora Cats that Jasmine was the kitten she felt closest to, although all of them accepted Janie.

Once Janie’s eyes opened, she began to move around and eagerly went to Mellissa for her bottle as soon as she came into the room.

Although Janie is smaller than her foster siblings by about two weeks, she has a larger-than-life personality.

She quickly mastered the use of the litter box and eagerly participated in playtime with her new family. “Watching Janie explore toys with her siblings for the first time was incredibly rewarding,” shared Mellissa.

At just four weeks old and weighing one pound, Janie is already thriving under foster care. She’s been observing Mama June and is learning to eat like a big kitty.

Soon enough, she’ll be able to keep up with other kittens. However, if she can’t find her siblings or caretakers, she cries for attention.

From a rocky start to becoming a force to be reckoned with, this little singleton is taking the world by storm and growing rapidly.
