Wobbly Kitten Gives Hugs to Other Cats After He was Rescued

At the veterinary clinic, a wobbly kitten arrived seeking a better life. Despite his unsteady gait, he offered cuddles to everyone, particularly his feline companions.

Animal Welfare League of Arlington received a small kitten in need of foster care. While being cared for in their Kitten College program, it was observed that the kitten was having difficulty eating, maintaining an upright posture, and not gaining weight as expected.

In order to seek assistance for kittens in critical condition, they promptly contacted Nova Cat Clinic located in Arlington, Virginia as they offer a program called Chris Griffey Memorial Feline Fund.

During the basic intake exam and lab work, Ellen Carozza, a Feline Licensed Veterinary Technician at Nova Cat Clinic, identified a small systemic infection, leading her to prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection.

They named the little guy Quark after the subatomic particle in quantum physics.

It was observed that the cat displayed common traits of Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a condition where the cerebellum doesn’t develop fully due to various causes in felines. However, it is noteworthy that cats with CH require no special treatment as they perceive themselves to be typical.

Quark has a physical condition that makes him wobbly, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying life. His owners make sure to “CH proof” areas he frequents so that he can navigate the world with safety measures in place.

From the first day, Quark showed a preference for being cuddled and swaddled, as it made him feel secure and stable. To fulfill his constant need for affection, clinic staff wrapped him up in a soft blanket and carried him around.

Ellen mentioned how Heather, Quark’s foster mom, kept him in her pocket throughout the day while helping with their patients.

Quark developed a fondness for Eggbert, a feline extraordinaire and graduate from the clinic’s rescue program. The ginger cat cozied up to Quark, trying to nuzzle into his fluffy belly for some extra attention.

Eggbert didn’t mind the little busy body and was happy to share a nap with him.

Ellen told Embora Cats that Eggbert prefers kittens of similar speed and likes them nearby.

He has a tolerance for certain types of playful behavior, and specifically enjoys participating in kitten cuddle puddles.

Upon meeting his fellow ginger friend Elvis, Quark wasted no time and hugged him tightly, wrapping his body around him and resting his head on his for a full-body bear hug.

Elvis is a hero who saves many feline lives by providing transfusions through the Chris Griffey Memorial Feline Fund.

When Quark goes back to his foster family, he immediately goes to Smudge, the 18-year-old cat who lives there, and licks him a lot. Quark loves to cuddle with Smudge and never gets tired of it.

According to Ellen, Smudge tolerates the other’s presence and pretends to ignore his shenanigans.

Quark has some unique quirks, such as trying to catch air with his flappy paws and needing to be wrapped in a soft blanket like a purrito after every bottle session.

They brought a snuggly fish toy to keep the kitten company and ensure it never feels alone.

Ellen shared with Embora Cats that Quark is a happy cat with motor issues who still loves life just as much as any other cat.

Consider adopting these delightful cats, especially if you’re a first-time ‘special needs’ cat owner.
