A group called Bushwick Street Cats rescued a mother cat and her four kittens from behind a Brooklyn laundromat using humane traps.

At six weeks old, these feral kittens required socialization and were placed into foster care. Their mother was spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped before being returned to her colony, where she will continue to protect them from rat infestation, while management ensures their food and shelter needs are met.

When Toby, an orange tabby, arrived at Jen Williamson’s home, he was terrified and hid from everyone. Jen, an experienced foster mom, had her work cut out for her. She introduced him to apartment life by starting with the bathroom.

To provide Toby with a secure place to unwind, rest, and take cover, a kitty condo was gifted to him. Initially, Toby declined to exit his cozy hideout, responding to Jen’s presence with hissing and growling.

With the help of an abundance of treats and persistent persuasion, Toby eventually let out his first purr on the second day and gradually became more comfortable with his owner.

Later that week, Toby became ill and required a great deal of care. According to Jen, he was very lethargic and became quite upset when left alone.

To comfort him, Jen held him in her lap throughout the day, providing him with love and attention.

She also administered medication to help alleviate his symptoms. By evening, Toby’s condition had improved, and he had returned to his usual self.

Toby’s experience with love led him to seek out more affection and become bolder in his surroundings.

He grew very close to his foster mom, snuggling and napping with her, which helped him gain the confidence to explore and play like he had lived there his whole life.

Jen shared that he may be shy at first, but once you earn his trust, he is extremely affectionate. He loves to be held close and nuzzles, making him very sweet and loving. The tabby boy has mastered the “attack cuddle” and enjoys attention in his new life.

Toby, the shyest of his litter, has already made it to the top of his ceiling-height cat tree and enjoys playing with his feather toy on a string. While he’s still a bit reserved, he’s ready for the next chapter in his life.

This affectionate cuddle-bug is patiently waiting for a loving family to adopt him. Despite his bashful exterior, he’s a huge mush once he’s comfortable.
