In a Montreal neighborhood, a thin and unkept cat was found in dire need of assistance. Interestingly, just prior to this discovery, a group of compassionate individuals were in the vicinity attempting to aid a cat of similar age.

Despite the belief that they were sisters, one of the cats had passed away. Upon learning about the situation, Maude took on the mission to save the remaining cat living on the dangerous streets.
With tremendous efforts, she successfully caught the cat using a humane trap and brought her home to safety.

After naming her cat Mulan, the owner reached out to Chatons Orphelins Montreal for help rescuing the malnourished and sick feline.
Despite Mulan’s fear of humans, the rescue provided her with food and shelter on the first night, and a difficult checkup followed at the vet’s office due to her anxiety.

Mulan’s healing process began with treatment and a nutritious diet. Gradually, she started to gain weight and became less fearful of people.
During a routine follow-up clinic visit, the caretakers discovered something remarkable: Mulan was pregnant, and the pregnancy was advanced. A few days later, she went into labor and gave birth to her first child.

Initially unsure of how to care for her baby, Mulan left it alone. However, after 24 hours had passed, her maternal instincts emerged, and she began to care for her young, feeding and tending to them both day and night.

Thanks to their mother’s care, the kittens made daily progress, while Mulan gradually grew to trust and appreciate her foster family.
As she gained confidence, she emerged from her hiding place, allowed her humans to care for her kittens, and even walked with more assurance.

According to Celine of Embora Cats, even though Mulan was still very shy, she made a conscious decision to place her full trust in her foster family.
The kittens, Mushu and Cri-Kee, never went without milk from their mother and subsequently transformed into sweet, playful, and very cuddly kittens after being weaned.

As soon as the two younglings were big enough for adoption, they found a forever home together.
Mulan was immensely relieved that she never had to raise another litter and could finally enjoy her peace and quiet. With newfound courage, she began to explore and seek attention from her people.

Mulan was able to regain her kitten-like playfulness through patience and encouragement. She now enjoys spending time basking in the sun and observing the neighbors from the window.

One of our favorite moments was when she would come join us for treats. With her big, observant eyes, she would watch us closely and keep us on our toes.

Mulan’s journey from a street survivor and mother to finding a loving family is finally complete. The sweet girl is now ready for a happy, purr-filled life in a place she can call her own.

It’s incredible to see the progress she’s made. When we first adopted her, she was so afraid that she wouldn’t even let anyone come near her, let alone touch her.
But after a few months of socialization, she’s transformed into a happy, playful, and affectionate cat.
