A newborn kitten was discovered in a Las Vegas front yard by a kind-hearted local who unfortunately found its siblings had passed away. With no mother around, the kitten was in critical need of care.
Luckily, Nikki Martinez, a TNR rescuer and experienced cat fosterer from Las Vegas, stepped in to help. Despite her husband’s cancer diagnosis, Nikki was determined to give the fragile kitten a chance at life.

Upon naming the kitten Rocky, the couple worked as a team to ensure it was well-fed, warm, and loved.
For the first week, Nikki tended to the kitten every two hours at night, allowing it to catch up in size with its newfound voracious appetite.

At 24 days old, Rocky proudly graduated from her nest and moved into a mini playpen, which was filled with all sorts of exciting new toys.
Even though she was still a bit wobbly, she eagerly exercised her leg muscles and tried to catch all the toys, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces.

During a difficult time, Rocky brought joy to her foster family. She loved being pampered like a little princess and requested snacks throughout the day.
When Foster Papi underwent a successful life-saving surgery, Rocky kept her foster mom occupied and offered much-needed comfort.
After Foster Papi was discharged from the hospital, he couldn’t wait to see his beloved Rocky and resumed caring for her.
He gave her a bottle and they both cheered each other on, a wonderful moment of two amazing fighters.

At just five weeks old, Rocky blossomed into an independent little kitten and discovered her inner sass.
She was not shy about showing her “cattitude” and became more playful and rambunctious, creating all sorts of fun and mischievous antics.
Watch Rocky’s journey in this cute video:
Rocky loves to play with Foster Papi and follows him around the house, chasing his feet. She also sits down next to him to offer some purrs and encouragement, as if to help him heal.

Rocky’s enjoyment of bottle time with her foster parents slowed down her ability to eat independently.
However, after taking her time, Rocky successfully transitioned to eating on her own, making Nikki and her husband proud. Rocky now devotes her time to playing and improving her feline skills.

To find Rocky the perfect forever home that matches her independent, diva attitude, they’re searching for a family who will cherish her.
Nikki, who shared Rocky’s story with Embora Cats, describes her as unique from any bottle baby she’s ever had.
Rocky is the only survivor of her litter, and she has been a precious gift to Nikki and her husband as they navigated through her husband’s cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Rocky’s search for the perfect home has come to an end, and she will be moving in with her forever family next week.
Our passion for TNR and fostering has been driving us for the past decade, and as long as we have the health and strength, we will continue this rewarding work of caring for kitties in need.
