The Shocking Footage of Sydney Teens Stealing and Killing a Beloved Family Cat Has Been Caught on CCTV

In a disturbing incident captured by CCTV footage, two teenage boys from Sydney’s northwest are believed to have committed a heinous act of theft and mercilessly killed a beloved 17-year-old pet cat named Brandy.

The pet owners, shattered by the loss, turned to their home security system to investigate the cat’s sudden disappearance.

However, what they uncovered in the footage was nothing short of appalling, leaving them horrified and speechless.

When Brandy joined Emily Bidart’s family at the tender age of 11, the locals viewed her as an eccentric cat who went for walks in the park.

But Bidart now believes that the park holds a grim reminder of the past, with memories of a brutal attack lurking in the shadows.

Looking out of her bedroom window, she can see the exact spot where the alleged murder occurred.

On Sunday, Bidart drove to her parents’ home in Glenwood after her mother called, concerned about Brandy’s whereabouts.

Although Brandy had gone missing before and returned after a few days, Bidart sensed that something was off this time.

She immediately checked the security cameras, which revealed two boys searching under cars and in her garden just minutes after her mother had left for an appointment at 4.30 pm on Wednesday.

Two young boys were caught on CCTV in what Bidart deemed a ‘premeditated attack’, as they combed the area for Brandy.

A lively boy dashes away from the front steps of the house, exclaiming “You wanna go cat?”, according to witnesses.

After 23 minutes, the same boy reappears sporting a hoodie and a full face mask. Allegedly, he quickly seizes Brandy from the front yard.

The incident caused Bidart to panic and become inconsolable. Eventually, Bidart’s mother suggested checking the side camera to track the culprits’ escape route.

Brandy was sleeping peacefully in her front garden of 17-years when she was carried off and killed

Bidart tearfully recounted how the graphic events that followed were too overwhelming to endure.

She revealed that the boy suspected of taking her cat passed it over a fence to another boy, and at the first sign of harm, she averted her gaze.

Liz, Bidart’s friend, watched the video footage of the assault unfold alongside Bidart’s mother and immediately rushed outside to the nearby park.

Bidart pondered what a teenage boy might do in such a situation, and Liz headed to the pond to investigate. It was there that she discovered Brandy’s body.

CCTV footage also showed boys allegedly approaching the residence days after the incident to throw dog excrement at the front door.

Bidart and her family canvassed the area for CCTV footage from neighbours, tracking the boys to a nearby house before filing a report with the police.

On Tuesday, the NSW Police arrested two teenage boys, aged 12 and 14, on charges of torturing, beating, and causing the death of an animal, as well as disposing of the killed and stolen animal.

The police stated in a statement that “about 4.30pm on (Wednesday) 8 March 2023, police will allege two boys took a cat from a home … into a nearby clearing. It will further be alleged the boys assaulted and killed the cat.”

The two boys were granted strict conditional bail and are set to appear in a children’s court on Tuesday, April 2, 2023.
