Woman Adopted a Kitten and Returned to the Shelter to Adopt its Mother Who Had Been There for Six Months

When Queenie arrived at The Exploits Valley SPCA, she was estimated to be around two years old and pregnant with kittens. Queenie was very friendly from the beginning.

The Exploits Valley SPCA shared that prior to arriving at the shelter, the staff was informed that the cat had given birth to multiple large litters in the past. Luckily, this current litter would be her final one.

After arriving indoors, Queenie gave birth to a litter of eight tiny and fluffy kittens, promptly becoming a loving mother who tirelessly cares for their every need.

Queenie’s nurturing of her eight hungry kittens demonstrated her profound love and care for her young, ensuring their every need was met and celebrating each milestone reached.

She loves everyone she meets. She taught all her kittens to love people too.

After the entire litter of eight kittens was old enough for adoption, all of them were adopted except for Queenie, who still needs a home.

“Queenie raised healthy, chubby, happy little kittens and now it’s time for her to be someone’s baby,” the shelter wrote.

Even though the kittens grew up beautifully in their new homes, Queenie still awaited her happily ever after. She had to stay extra long, first waiting to give birth, then raising the kittens for eight weeks, and finally waiting to be chosen.

In December, Queenie marked her sixth month at Exploits Valley SPCA, officially becoming the shelter’s longest-resident cat.

Queenie’s roommates were adopted one by one, leaving her behind. She’s waiting in her room for someone to give her a loving home.

In a Facebook post, the shelter wrote, “It would be awesome if this sweet girl found a forever home for Christmas and beyond.”

One of Queenie’s kittens, Luna, found her forever home with Allison Crowe. Luna was a mini version of Momma Queenie.

After four months, Allison’s beautiful panther kitty, Johnny, passed away. While scrolling through her social media, she saw a post from the Exploits Valley SPCA stating that Luna’s mother had become their longest resident without being adopted.

She felt an instant connection and knew what action to take. “I couldn’t bear the thought of Luna’s mother being alone and without her babies, so I made a decision.”

Allison went back to the shelter so that Queenie could have her dream come true at last.

Allison adopted Mama Queenie, a pet from Exploits Valley SPCA, along with one of her babies, who had been waiting for a home for a long time. The adoption happened just in time for Christmas, and the SPCA expressed their appreciation for giving Queenie and her baby a forever home.

Queenie left the shelter after half a year of waiting. She was so happy to be cuddling in Allison’s arms and to finally have a place of her own.

Juno, the sweet cat momma, has adjusted well to her new home and family. She spends a lot of time snuggling with Allison, hanging out with her baby Luna, and enjoying the company of her canine buddy, Linkers.

“Queen Juno is settling in beautifully with us. We are absolutely in love with this gorgeous lil’ lady,” Allison wrote.
